Wordless Wednesday: where I live

Wednesday, November 12, 2014 Permalink

I’ve mentioned before that Wordless Wednesdays are my least favourite posts. I used to assume image posts were a bit of a cop-out  – an easy option, but I realise that’s not the case when these posts take me longer than any other post during the week.

I often post twice on Mondays as I like two of the link-ups on offer. I’m always a bit fatigued on Tuesdays but Wednesday rolls around and it occurs to me – for the sake of continuity I should post something, hence the #WordlessWednesday post.

And so, in the absence of anything more interesting this week I’m gonna build on last week’s Fraser Coast post and share…. Where I live. And mum, don’t worry, I don’t think I’ll be attracting potential thieves as I’m pretty sure I’ve limited exciting treasures on offer!

Firstly my my living space, and you can see (I’m now using my Kith & Co quilt on my sofa – to brighten it up and protect its boring ‘sand’ hues against dinners and red wine. I was planning to recover my cushions but this has been an easier option.

And then there are my books and kitchen. My apartment is very small (compared to my pre-seachange apartment) but practical. I did however, have to downsize A LOT!

I have a spare bedroom (below, with a inadvertent ocean theme), main bathroom and ensuite, internal laundry etc.

And as for my room… where the magic happens… (And I mean my writing of course!) This is an old pic featuring the quilt I now use on the sofa but I’m too lazy to make my bed for a new picture. It now just has a white doona, although I do need some new colour in the absence of my quilt. And – unfortunately – this is the only space for my desk. (I often mention the fact I spend most of my days at home in my room.

And finally – of course – there’s my deck and ocean views. I know I’ve bored everyone silly with the latter so here’s the deck after a rare (outsourced) clean!

So there you have it…. my humble abode. I think I’m finally used to the size though it took me a while. Ideally I’d love a separate space for my desk, but my budget didn’t really stretch to a third bedroom if I was to remain mortgage-free.

Could you live in a tiny apartment?

Linking up with Trish from My Little Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday!

I would love to live here. I have no issue with a tiny apartment I believe it forces you to be more organised and minimises the clutter factor which possibly means less cleaning in the long wrong.

That’s true. When I have those feelings of dread over my need to vacuum I remind myself I can do the whole apartment in about 10mins!

It’s looking great Deb! I think smaller would be fab because smaller is not only cosier but = less cleaning!! Just over 7 years ago we moved to a much bigger house and still to this day I cannot get used to all the extra cleaning!! I’d love to have your balcony and view too *sigh*!!

Ah yes the cleaning’s less problematic but I get a lot more… (not sure) dust or something here that I didn’t get at my old place. (Of course I could afford a cleaner back then!)

Completely understand and it took me a while to adjust when I first moved. My previous place was 3 levels, 3 bedrooms AND separate dining room (which I used as a study).

Ah yes, I love my books. Sadly most I get to review are eBooks (which I only receive for a limited amount of time) but I definitely prefer the real thing!

Actually my desk isn’t so tidy now…. 🙂

I seriously doubt we would survive in an apartment at the moment Deb. That said, I reckon retiring to an apartment with no lawn to mow and no garden to weed sounds like heaven!

Oh yes. I fantasise sometimes about having a house but that’s only because of my complex’s annoying manager and our huge body corporate fees!

We lived in a TINY old worker’s cottage for 5 years when our kids were young. It was all of 7 squares; the house we live in now is 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and double lockup garage – not huge by any means – yet it is still 22 squares so that will give you some idea. We not only survived, we thrived! But I must confess it’s nice to have space once the kids hit the teen years especially. Oh, and I love your deck and view!

Looks beautiful, love the deck! I’ve lived in apartments all my life and I they have their advantages. Less to clean is a massive one!

I love you bookshelf! I always find a wall full of books compelling and of course that view!! What a lovely spot to sit and enjoy breakfast or a cup of tea!

I know! Although I don’t use my outdoor area enough. When I first moved in I did but now I often only go out there when I have visitors. I must remedy that!

I’d be happy to live in a small apartment if I didn’t have so many animals. No pool cleaning, no lawns to mow, less rooms to clean… it’d be great. I love both of those quilts! I must admit it’s kind of what I imagined you in especially the bookcase.

Ah yes… My book collection stalled for a while but it’s increasing again now. I LOVE my books…

I’m so envious of your beach front views!
Before I had Mr 5 I lived in a bedsit and I now live in a 2 bedroom house. I don’t think I could cope with anything much bigger.

Ah thanks Tegan, yes my views are amazing. I need to NOT take them for granted.

It’s a lovely apartment. I don’t think I could live in a small one though – but only because they don’t usually allow dogs in apartments. And we all know that I can’t live without my dog.

Deb, I’ve lived in smaller, and you just get used to it, don’t you? But seriously, that view!!! I love your quilt, it gives such a beautiful burst of colour to your living area.
I love seeing where people live, all part of my nosiness xx

I know I really want a replacement for my bed now the quilt’s on the sofa. Or something else over the sofa. My room’s looking a little dull. Plus I only have a doona rather than the lighter quilt!

I have a small condo nowadays, after living in a rather large house that had a guesthouse down the hill. That was a LOT to keep up, including the grounds, and the view was of a dam. Yes, a dam. Okay, can we say boring? LOL

I don’t have a view now, either—love yours!—but I can relate to some rooms doing double duty. My office (the second bedroom) has a sleeper sofa, and I also use a quilt on the living room sofa!

BTW….that deck and that view would make the whole place for me! Thanks for sharing.

Love your tiny place….and YES i so could live in a Tiny place – we live in a motorhome at the moment and if we ever settle down then it will be in a small place, or in a shed on a block of land – I don’t want a big place ever again cause it takes way too much time for cleaning!!!
Love the view from your balcony 🙂

Yes, I’m really lucky with my view. As it’s just me a big place doesn’t make a lot of sense, but I would like a bit more room I admit. I spent almost all day in the one room…. (Which I guess is even worse for you!)

I'd love to hear your thoughts
