Book review: When All The Girls Have Gone by Jayne Ann Krentz

I used to read a lot of Jayne Ann Krentz books when I trawled the local library. I’m not as big a fan of some of her Amanda Quick / Jayne Castle (pseudonym)Ā series, but enjoy her romantic suspense novels. Despite the romance! šŸ˜‰

I actually had this for ages before reading it and still read it a long time before publication because it was EXACTLY what I was in the mood for one night.

Book review: Sapphire Falls by Fleur McDonald

Book review: Sapphire Falls by Fleur McDonald

Dare I admit that I think this is my first Fleur McDonald book? (And on that note can we have a round of applause for my recent spate of courageĀ – in terms of reading outside my genre. Or at least thinking I’m about to.)

I’ve mentioned many times that I avoid romance novels… particularly rural romance the like and I suspect the cover of other books by McDonald might have led me to believe I was aboutĀ to swagger bow-legged down that path. But perhaps I never read the blurbs, as her latest most certainly sounds like my reading bread and butter.

Book review: Sunset Shadows by Bronwyn Parry

Book review: Sunset Shadows by Bronwyn Parry

I read Bronwyn Parry’s Storm Clouds about 18 months ago and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I don’t read straight* romance but like romantic suspense that weighs in favour of the latter,Ā and itĀ – focusing aroundĀ a small community and the deaths of two women from a nearby cult – did.

The other thing I commented on in my review of Storm Clouds, was the fact Parry seemed to be developing a series with interlinked characters, pulling new characters into the limelight each time around (akin to Karen Rose or Suzanne Brockmann, whose books I enjoy).

Book review: The Liar by Nora Roberts

Nora Roberts is a prolific writer and loved by many. I much prefer her JD Robb In Death series—the futuristic crime novels, with a smidge of romance stirred into the mix. As Nora Roberts her work is (mostly) romantic suspense and my enjoyment usually depends on the two genres being as evenly balanced as possible*.

Her latest, The Liar really doesn’t offer a lot in the suspense side of things, but fortunately for me in this instance I was smitten by one of the main characters so didn’t really mind…..
