Today’s Photo-a-day theme is ‘Busy’. I thought about taking a photo of someone in the office but they were actually too busy for me to interrupt to get a picture. Instead I thought I’d share a part of my busy-ish day.
Yesterday I mentioned having to get my photograph taken and sadly no, it wasn’t for some hip magazine (in a feature titled 20 Oz Bloggers to Watch), though nor was it just a replacement photograph for my work security card.
I actually received a NAIDOC week award* in our organisation’s awards ceremony, so had to get my picture taken dutifully shaking our Chairperson’s hand. Fortunately fate was kind and I was able to turn my right side to the camera so my now-swollen eye wasn’t visible. I hope.
Of course once the photographs go into our online magazine it may be a whole different story. Perhaps I need to schmooze our Communications’ staff to make sure they photoshop my picture if necessary. (I have in the past – recognised the importance of playing nice with Comms staff at times like these!)
Rudely I ditched the post-ceremony free lunch and rushed off to attend my most favourite dance class at my gym. I was only a few minutes late and the instructor had already wondered if I was still recovering from the blogging conference… so I had to update all there on my war wound and Nuffnang Blogopolis exploits in between tracks.
I achieved much sympathy – which is (obviously) what I was after. In fact, in retrospect I wouldn’t be surprised if I fell NOT because I was pissy; but rather staged the fall to elicit sympathy and good wishes from those around me. I wasn’t at all intoxicated. Really!
* My award was for my role in coordinating the development of an Indigenous engagement strategy for my organisation, which is/was one of the projects I’m managing.

Congrats on your award! I had to look up NAIDOC to see what it’s all about 🙂

Yes, I thought about spelling it out but just put the link in there instead!
And thanks!
