Book review: The Hush by Sara Foster

Some of the promotional material for The Hush by Sara Foster describe it as a ‘near-future thriller’ which I must say, is incredibly apt.

And… wow, just wow. Foster has managed to reflect many of the issues of increasing concern in society today, in a way that seems both fantastically impossible and completely comprehensible at the same time.

It’s an extremely clever book, with an inspired premise, though we’re seeing more and more books with George Orwellian-type themes, such as Kate Mildenhall’s The Mother Fault. Foster’s confronting narrative is further strengthened by fabulous characters who felt very real, complex and engaging.

Book review: You Don’t Know Me by Sara Foster

When ticking the ‘genre’ of this book for this post I added romantic suspense because – though not generally a fan of ‘romance’ as such – I was completely taken with the burgeoning romance that underpinned much of this novel.

The book opens as our two leads, Alice and Noah meet, and I adored their relationship and the way it grew. It felt… well, um romantic. Of course it’s hampered by a backstory of long-kept secrets, guilt and death, so it’s not all rainbows and kittens.

Author interview: All That is Lost Between Us by Sara Foster

All That is Lost Between Us by Sara Foster is the fourth novel by English-born Aussie dwelling author. The former book editor now lives in West Australia and is currently studying dystopian fiction as part of her PhD at Curtin University.

Her latest novel features several themes but I’ve taken the opportunity to talk to her about what I see as the biggie…. motherhood.
