I won’t even bother launching into how much I love this series cos I’ve written about it (in general) and reviewed all of JD Robb’s (aka Nora Roberts’) latest In Death books here on the blog.
I felt it wavered a little a few books ago, but it’s most certainly back on track with the last couple being amongst my favourites in the series.
I love me some Lieutenant Eve Dallas and mega-zillionaire hubby Roarke. JD Robb’s In Death series isn’t going to win any literature prizes anytime soon, but every time a new book arrives it takes all of my willpower not to allow it to leap-frog its predecessors in my chronologically-sorted to-be-read pile.
Robb’s latest, Apprentice in Death is number 43. Give or take some short stories or ten.
Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her mega millionaire hubby Roarke are back in the 42nd (yes, the 42nd!) novel in JD Robb’s In Death series. The fact Robb and our crime fighters are still going strong after 20 years is most certainly a testament to the consistency of Nora Roberts’ writing and her captivating (and slightly addictive) characters.
There are a stack of series I love: John Sandford’s Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers books; Martha Grimes’ Richard Jury/Melrose Plant series; Sue Grafton’s alphabet series’; Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books; and Robert B Parker’s Spenser series. And so forth. And possibly at the top of that list is JD Robb’s In Death series, which I’ve already raved about ad nauseum.
Obsession in Death is JD Robb’s 40th Eve Dallas / Roarke novel. Robb’s first book in this series, Naked in Death, was released in 1995*, which averages out at two books a year. Impressive for any author, but more so for one who has a day job! 😉
I love this series. They’re one of my comfort reads. I own a heap (though probably not even half!) and have read most more than once.
I have many guilty pleasures. Some just naughty – champagne, chocolate, red wine and so forth. Some a little weird – an early years’ fetish for Dr Spock (the one with the pointy ears, not the child-rearing guru). And some that are mostly embarrassing. Like the ridiculous pleasure I get from the TV show, ‘Murder She Wrote’ and from a series of novels by romance writer, Nora Roberts, under the pseudonym JD Robb.
